Five hybrid trims. One decision: how much comfort tech you actually need versus how much you’re...
The 2026 Toyota Sienna comes in 14 configurations, and that range is wide enough to cause real decision fatigue. Narrowing it down starts with two questions: how many seats do you need, and how much do features matter to you day to day?
Ontario drivers have one clear advantage here: the Sienna is Canada’s only hybrid minivan available with all-wheel drive, so if AWD is on your list, the shortlist stays within the Sienna family.
The 2026 Sienna Lineup
Every Sienna runs a single 2.5L four-cylinder hybrid with two electric motors and 245 hp. FWD models return 6.6 L/100 km combined; AWD models return 6.8 L/100 km combined. Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, Toyota Multimedia, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on every grade.
The 14 configurations split into two families:
Standard grades: LE, LE AWD, XLE, XSE, XSE AWD, XSE Technology AWD, Limited AWD, Platinum AWD
Mobility grades: Mobility Braun LE, Mobility VMI LE, Mobility Braun XLE, Mobility VMI XLE, Mobility VMI LE AWD, Mobility VMI XSE AWD
From Eight Seats to Seven: The Trim Decisions That Matter
LE and LE AWD
The LE is a practical eight-passenger base with an 8-inch touchscreen, 8-speaker audio, LED headlamps, 17-inch wheels, heated front seats, three-zone climate control, wireless charging, and a power back door now standard on every 2026 Sienna. For a family that wants a hybrid minivan without extras they won’t use, the LE covers the essentials.
The LE AWD adds Toyota’s electronic on-demand all-wheel drive with no other feature changes. For Ontario driving from October through April, that single upgrade is significant, and the price gap between LE and LE AWD is modest enough that most buyers in this province should start their consideration at the LE AWD rather than the base LE.
XLE: Eight Seats, More Refinement
The XLE stays at eight passengers but raises the interior experience considerably. A 12.3-inch touchscreen, Softex upholstery, a power moon roof, kick sensor-activated sliding doors, four-zone climate control, and Smart Key with Passive Entry are the key upgrades over LE. The XLE is FWD only, which sets up a direct choice: the XLE and LE AWD land at nearly the same price point.
If refined tech and a better cabin matter more than all-wheel traction, the XLE is the answer. If AWD is a priority and the LE’s feature set is sufficient, LE AWD is the call.
XSE and XSE AWD: Sport Character, Seven Seats
The XSE is for buyers who want the van to feel less like a van. A sport-tuned suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels, black accents, a sportier front and rear fascia, a 12-speaker JBL audio system (new for 2026), a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, moon roof, kick sensor doors, and second-row long-slide captain’s seats define this trim. Seating drops to seven and that change is permanent within the XSE family.
The XSE AWD adds all-wheel drive and swaps to 18-inch dark-finish wheels. For Ontario conditions, the XSE AWD is the more practical of the two. The base XSE (FWD) suits buyers who prioritize the 20-inch wheel look and mainly drive in milder seasons.
XSE Technology AWD: The Sport Trim with Serious Added Capability
Building on the XSE AWD, the XSE Technology AWD adds LED fog lamps, a wide-angle backup camera with washer, a digital display rear-view mirror, a rear seat entertainment system, a 120V/1500W power outlet, and Intelligent Clearance Sonar with Rear Cross Traffic Brake. Each of those additions directly serves Ontario families on longer road trips or navigating tighter urban parking.
The step from XSE AWD to XSE Technology AWD is worth evaluating if rear-seat entertainment and parking tech are on your priority list.
Limited AWD: The Premium Seven-Passenger Grade
The Limited AWD moves into a different category altogether. Leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s seats with ottomans, a 12-speaker JBL system, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a digital rear-view mirror, a driver’s seat memory system, rear seat entertainment, Panoramic View Monitor, Intelligent Clearance Sonar, kick sensor doors, and a 120V/1500W outlet all come standard. AWD is the only drivetrain at this grade.
The jump from XSE Technology AWD to Limited AWD is the largest price step in the standard lineup. Leather seating, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, seat memory, and panoramic monitoring justify that gap for buyers who genuinely value the premium interior.
Platinum AWD: The Fully Loaded Flagship
The Platinum AWD adds a head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch clad two-tone wheels, a refrigerator, and an onboard vacuum to the already comprehensive Limited AWD. The buyer for the Platinum is someone who uses a refrigerator on road trips and wants a van that’s easy to clean after family use. Most buyers will find the Limited AWD meets their needs; the Platinum’s extras are specific enough that they should be on your actual wish list before you spend up.
Mobility Grades: Accessibility Built In
All six Mobility grades are pre-configured for BraunAbility or VMI conversions and make buyers eligible for the Toyota Mobility Program, which offers financial assistance to offset conversion costs.
The Mobility Braun LE and Mobility VMI LE share the LE’s 8-inch touchscreen, 8-speaker audio, and FWD layout; they differ in conversion partner. The Mobility Braun XLE and Mobility VMI XLE upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and add a moon roof. The Mobility VMI LE AWD builds on the VMI LE with Toyota’s electronic on-demand AWD.
The Mobility VMI XSE AWD is a seven-passenger grade adding a 12-speaker JBL system, embedded navigation, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, sport-tuned suspension, grade-specific 18-inch wheels, kick sensor doors, and four-zone climate control.
BraunAbility conversions offer a lift-up power mobility seat; both BraunAbility and VMI offer full ramp van conversions with automatic ramps, lowered floors, removable seating, and automatic suspension kneeling.

Which Trim Is Right for You?
Start with seating. If eight passengers is a firm requirement, only the LE, LE AWD, and XLE apply. Every other standard grade seats seven, and the Mobility VMI XSE AWD also seats seven. If you have some flexibility, the seven-passenger grades generally deliver more features.
If AWD is a priority for Ontario conditions, the LE AWD, XSE AWD, XSE Technology AWD, Limited AWD, and Platinum AWD all deliver it. The XLE and base XSE are FWD only.
Buyers who want sport styling and JBL audio at a mid-range price belong in the XSE family. Those who want the most refined interior and premium seating belong in Limited or Platinum territory. And for families managing accessibility needs, the Mobility grades bring the Sienna’s full hybrid capability into purpose-built, conversion-ready configurations.
