Toyota introduces new electric vehicle strategy and new electric concepts

Toyota unveiled this week its new electrified vehicle strategy including a $70 billion investment in the development of electrified vehicles and 30 new vehicles coming by 2030.

Toyota introduced 15 of these models and they have been the talk of the town all week long. Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda said that there would be an electric vehicle for everyone and for every need, and the lineup shown this week certainly confirms that.

Among the highlights of the concepts shown by Toyota, we have the Toyota electric pickup truck which looks like a cross between the Toyota Tacoma and the Toyota tundra which was recently redesigned. It has a bold and rugged design which certainly stands out. Toyota has said that it would consider and would like to offer an electric pickup truck, and we can only hope it looks as good as the concept.

Even more impressive was the Toyota supercar concept which could preview a new flagship electric vehicle at Toyota. It was simply stunning. Other models shown included multiple sport utility vehicles including one that has a rugged appearance and could even be a replacement for the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Toyota will introduce its first electric vehicle next year when the Toyota bZ4x arrives on the market. It seems that many more models will follow after that!
