Three Things to Know About the 2021 Toyota Highlander

The Highlander is about choice for the 2021 model year. Based on a versatile platform that drives like a car, ten models offer you impressive standard features, conventional gas and hybrid power, and a price range that fits a variety of budgets. There is a Highlander for everyone.

There are many other things to know about the 2021 Highlander, but we pick three of the top ones.

The 2021 Toyota Highlander features Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+

New for this model year, all models receive the latest install of Toyota Safety Sense--2.5+. These do an even better job of extending the driver's awareness and ability to avoid or mitigate collisions.

New additions to Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ include left turn intersection support and Emergency Steering Assist (ESA). ESA helps the driver steer the Highlander within the vehicle's lane, as indicated by the driver. Curve speed management is now a feature of Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which enhances control around turns. The Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist function adds better line and road recognition.

Each Highlander also includes the Toyota Star Safety System, a back-up camera, and eight air bags that combine with 2.5+ to create one of the segment's best safety systems.

The 2021 Toyota Highlander has a drivetrain that's perfect for Canada

The Highlander offers solid power, admirable efficiency, and advanced AWD to help you get the most out of the roads and conditions around your Highlander.

All-wheel drive models with Dynamic Torque vectoring send up to 50% of available power to the rear wheels and further distributes power to individual wheels that reinforce grip. That's important in challenging road conditions. For drivers that prefer FWD, you aren't left behind with the L model.

The Highlander offers powerful engines, a 3.5-litre six-cylinder that generates 295 horsepower and a hybrid engine that delivers 243 peak horsepower. The hybrid reduces gas consumption to a level that is even lower than some compact sedans, resulting in a combined fuel efficiency of 6.7 L/100 km.

Exciting new offering in 2021 Toyota Highlander lineup

Toyota Canada introduces the Highlander XSE, which offers a sporty outtake of the model lineup. It features a more finely tuned suspension, sport styling, captain's chairs, and much more.
