The New 2023 Toyota GR 86 is the same fun sports car, now with a Special Edition

The 2023 Toyota GR 86 is still the same compact sports car that was widely acclaimed at the launch of its second-generation last year, but it will now offer a very limited edition to enthusiasts.

The Special Edition

For 2023, the Toyota GR 86 gets treated to a very limited run of unique cars that will wear the Special Edition badge. This version will feature a distinctive orange paint job with matching stitching on the seats and steering wheel, a set of bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels, a performance exhaust system, and a black duck bill spoiler, among other special details. This version will be available with the automatic or manual transmission, but only 20 units will be sold in the entire country, which means that it will be one of the most exclusive Toyota models ever.

The 2.4L Boxer engine

The 2023 Toyota GR 86 keeps the same drivetrain that was introduced for the 2022 model year, which means a 2.4L boxer engine can still be found under the hood. This engine provides a welcome boost in power and torque over the previous generation of the GR 86 and it contributes to making it a more enjoyable car to drive on twisty roads. The 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque delivered by this engine enable the GR 86 to accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds with the standard six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic unit is also available.

The safety and convenience features

The 2023 Toyota GR 86 is equipped with a host of features that are dedicated to improving its safety and its useability. This is evidenced by the standard forward collision warning system with pre-collision throttle management that can prevent the driver from accelerating if an obstacle is in front of the car. The GR 86 also includes an 8-inch touch screen to control the infotainment system that comes with a three-year subscription to the Remote Connect feature.
