The Iconic Land Cruiser Returns: A Glimpse at the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

After a 28-year absence, the durable off-roading legend, Toyota's Land Cruiser, is set to make a triumphant return to the Canadian market for the 2024 model year. Toyota Canada's Vice President, Cyril Dimitris, echoes the anticipation, stating, "The new Land Cruiser's heritage-inspired design is a nod to Toyota's long history of building reliable, durable trucks able to conquer the most severe driving conditions."

The 2024 model stays true to its origin, providing a more accessible price point to lure a broader range of customers. It also debuts with an exclusive i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain that churns out 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque, integrated into an eight-speed transmission, promising power-packed adventures across the globe.

The Land Cruiser's rebirth brings a fresh design led by key terms such as authentic, reliable, timeless, and professional. The new model's signature look includes iconic round LED headlights, a "TOYOTA" heritage grille, and a squared body profile evoking memories of the Land Cruisers of old. The design is a confluence of form and function with practical touches like a decreased front overhang for better approach and improved visibility on trails.

The off-road credentials of the 2024 Land Cruiser are underlined by its performance enhancements, which include a newly developed double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. Moreover, it comes equipped with a full-time four-wheel-drive system, an electronic locking rear differential, and a new front stabilizer bar, providing increased flex on rough terrains.

In addition, Land Cruiser fans will appreciate the multi-terrain monitor feature, functional in both 4WD-High and 4WD-Low. Displayed on the available 12.3-inch touchscreen, it provides crisp visuals of potential obstacles on the trail. The CRAWL Control function, acting as a low-speed, off-road cruise control, will also ease the driver's experience.

Inside, the 2024 Land Cruiser will be able to seat up to five passengers, with a choice between black fabric seats and heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats. Toyota's latest multimedia system, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, will be displayed on an 8.0-inch touchscreen. A higher-end 12.3-inch multimedia monitor and an available 14-speaker JBL premium sound system are included in the Land Cruiser grade.

The Land Cruiser will be produced in Toyota's Tahara and Hino plants in Japan and is expected to arrive in Canada in the spring of 2024. As for the final piece of the puzzle - the retail pricing - fans will have to wait for a later announcement closer to the on-sale date. All said and done, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser promises to reignite the off-roading spirit with its blend of heritage and modern advancements.
