2022 Lexus Hybrid SUV lineup

2022 Lexus Hybrid SUV lineup

Lexus pioneered the hybrid SUV segment when the RX 400h went on sale back in 2005. Strong from its many years of experience, the 2022 Hybrid SUV lineup from Lexus is one of the strongest on the market.

The many Lexus Hybrid powertrains

Lexus has developed many versions of its hybrid system to use in different vehicles in order to give them the best balance between power and fuel economy according to their weight and size. The UX is the smallest Lexus SUV, therefore it is equipped with the smallest version of the hybrid powertrain. In this case, a 2.0L engine drives the front wheels with the help of an electric motor while the rear wheels are powered by another small electric motor. This gives the UX 250h a combined average fuel consumption of only 6.0L / 100 km. The NX was entirely reworked for 2022 and it now offers two hybrid systems to chose from. The NX 350h is powered by a traditional hybrid system that is composed of a 2.5L engine and two electric motors on the rear axle. This powertrain can deliver a total of 239 horsepower while keeping a very low appetite for fuel, with an average of only 6.0L / 100 km. The NX 450h+ adds a bigger battery that can be charged with a cable, a first for Lexus, in order to allow an all-electric range of up to 61 kilometers. This larger battery also increases the available output to 302 horsepower and limits the fuel consumption to only 2.8Le / 100 km. The RX 450h is the largest hybrid SUV in the Lexus lineup and the only one to use a V6 engine. This 3.5L unit gives the RX the quietest and the smoothest operation possible, while also providing the highest output of the three hybrid SUVs, at 308 horsepower. The assistance of the electric motors, one in the front and one in the rear, allows for an average fuel consumption that stays under 8.0L / 100 km.
