2021 Toyota RAV4: a popular and logical choice

2021 Toyota RAV4: a popular and logical choice

The Toyota RAV4 became in 2020 the best-selling vehicle in Canada (excluding full-size trucks). Its success is explained by its interesting combination of versatility, performance and comfort, but also by its legendary reliability and its impressive resale value. The 2021 Toyota RAV4 continues in the same vein as the 2020 model, offering everything SUV owners are looking for in their next model.

Performance and Efficiency

The first thing to say about the 2021 Toyota RAV4 is that it has the most powerful engine in its class. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in question delivers 203 horsepower with 184 pound-feet of torque. No other compact SUV offers more than 200 standard horsepower in the segment.

This translates into, among other things, a towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs. Better yet, that equates to an average fuel consumption of just 9.2 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 7.1 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway with all-wheel drive.

The RAV4 is therefore very economical as standard, but it can be even more if we opt for the popular Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.

The latter has a combination of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an 88-kW electric motor, which allows it to consume less than 6.0 liters per 100 kilometers. We are therefore entitled to an SUV that offers more than 1,000 liters of cargo space while offering an average fuel consumption equivalent to a normal car.

The Toyota RAV4 Prime, meanwhile, offers an electric range of over 60 kilometers while offering 302 horsepower. That said, even the RAV4 Hybrid, with its 219 horsepower, offers clearly sufficient power for most needs.
